PERU research associate, Kirstine Szifris, invited to speak at the PET annual symposium

Friday 24 March 2017

PERU research associate, Kirstine Szifris, has been invited to speak at the Prison Education Trust's annual symposium. She will be speaking on a panel about the role of education in developing human capital drawing on both her own expertise and PET's own theory of change document. She will focus primarily on her findings from her PhD work which looked at the role of philosophical dialogue in the lives of prisoners. However, she will also draw on more recent work conducted within PERU which involved conducting a Realist Review. This involved developing and articulating a general theory of prison education in the context of desistance theory. Her talk will focus on the role of education in the personal development of prisoners, its relevance to motivation and moving forward, and its impact on the broader questions of identity, change and self-reflection.
